Patriots projected to address underrated need in 2025 NFL draft

Patriots projected to address underrated need in 2025 NFL draft

The New England Patriots may have defeated the Chicago Bears 19-3 on Sunday at Soldier Field, but they're still near the bottom of the league with a 3-7 record.

With that, New England will likely be picking somewhere near the top of the 2025 NFL draft, so fans and analysts are beginning to predict what Eliot Wolf and company could do with another high first-round pick.

In Sporting News' newest mock draft, Vinnie Iyer predicts that the Patriots will select Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham as the sixth overall pick next April.

"Graham is a nasty run stopper whose flashes as an inside pass rusher suggest potential dominance in the NFL," Iyer wrote. "That will sell Jerod Mayo on Graham being his new defensive linchpin."

In 10 games this season, Graham has recorded 37 total tackles (seven for a loss), 3.5 sacks and a pass defensed. He was also part of a national champion defense in 2023.

New England has Christian Barmore and Davon Godchaux under contract for the 2025 season, but beyond that, the future of their interior defensive line is up in the air.

It's not a need that many people are looking at right now, but it's one they should address sometime soon.
