ORANGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) -- Two people were hospitalized after a driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel in Orange Township Friday night.

Around 7:35 p.m., deputies with the Ionia County Sheriff's Office were sent to eastbound I-96 near Portland Road for a crash.

Responding deputies found a 2010 Honda Civic that had crashed into a guard rail. Investigators believe that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, the sheriff's office said.

The 18-year-old driver and the passenger were both taken to the hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
