Village home's massive Christmas lights display switched on by Father Christmas

EACH Christmas, one couple's back garden becomes a winter wonderland filled with bright lights and festive fun.

For two weeks in December, 66 Christine Avenue becomes Santa's Garden - a Christmas lights display that takes up the entire front and back garden of the house.

Mick and Norma Gale organise and prepare the display every year and have done so for more than two decades.

Mr Gale said: "We've been doing this now for 22 years.

"When I was at work, it used to take us three weekends to put it all up but now I can take my time with it a bit more

"The storms threw us out a bit the past couple of weeks but now we're back on track and it looks like everything is alright."

Thousands of Christmas lights and over two dozen inflatables, including a 10-foot tall reindeer Mr Gale described as his "personal favourite", make up the display.

For the last 18 years, Mr and Mrs Gale have been raising money for the Midlands Air Ambulance through donations from visitors to the display.

Diane Thomson, fundraising executive for the Midlands Air Ambulance in Worcestershire, said: "A lot of people will support a charity as a one-off, but they (Mick and Norma) have stuck with us for years now.

"They have raised £13,000 for us so far, which is enough to fund four lifesaving missions and goodness knows how many car missions.

"The community own the air ambulance and it is people like Mick and Norma that raise the money for us to keep going."

Mr Gale added: "We think the air ambulance is an essential service and that is why we do it for them.

"It's only funded by donations and you never know whether one day you might need one."

Santa's Garden is open to visitors from 5.30pm to 9pm every day until Saturday, December 28.
