Having kicked off in March 2023, the Eras Tour has run for over 21 months, with the pop superstar performing 149 shows across five continents. It has also gone on to be the highest-grossing concert tour of all time, with Time having estimated that the shows will gross $2.165 billion.
As fans are starting to process the fact that they won't have another show to soon look forward to, they are wondering what the pop superstar has in store next -- with some hoping that she will eventually announce another tour. Newsweek spoke to three experts about when they think the pop superstar with tour again -- and it could be sooner than you think.
Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Swift for comment on Friday.
Ari Perez is an associate professor at Quinnipiac University and an avid Swiftie. As well as being a professor of civil engineering, Perez designed and teaches "Taylor Swift: Cultural Mirrorball" in the Women and Gender Studies Program at the university.
He told Newsweek that he thinks Swift will be back on the road to support her next studio album, referred to in the fandom as TS12, whenever it comes out.
"Besides a delay between 1989 and reputation (reputedly due to an album that she was working on and scrapped) and a huge increase in output due to the pandemic, Taylor has worked in two-year cycles," the professor explained.
"That would schedule TS12 for release in 2026, with a tour following up shortly thereafter either in late 2026 or in 2027, depending on when in the year the album is released. Past performance does not guarantee future tours, however."
Marie Goldstein Levitsky is the co-founder of Fandom Daily, a website for super fans that elevates fan engagement. She also identifies as a devoted Swifite and agrees with Perez's theory that Swift's next tour could be in a year or two.
"Taylor has spent much of her life on the road, and while the Eras Tour has been particularly monumental. She has always spoken with such warmth and positivity about the experience of touring," Goldstein Levitsky told Newsweek.
"Even throughout this extraordinary journey, she's expressed how deeply rewarding it is to connect with fans through live music. While I believe she's earned a much-needed and well-deserved break, I have no doubt that her love for performing will bring her back to the stage, perhaps in just a year or two."
Anna Kate Womack, a publicist for Otter PR as well as a "huge Swiftie," thinks it will be a while before the "Cruel Summer" singer tours again. However, she agrees it will be after she releases a new album.
"I think it will be after the release of new music that signifies a new stage of her life and her music career," she said.
"During the tour, Taylor released The Tortured Poets Department. The reason this album fits perfectly into the Eras Tour is it reflected on points in her life prior to and during the tour. With songs like 'I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,' Taylor reflects on heartbreak and her ability to still perform the tour despite what she was going through in her personal life.
"I think as soon as we get another album or so that signifies a new chapter after the Eras Tour and a new point in her music career, that is when Taylor will perform again for her fans."
Swifties have theorized that the pop superstar is hinting at another upcoming project on the back cover of her The Official Eras Tour Book. The book, released on November 29, commemorates the singer's tour and includes over 500 images. It also features personal reflections from Swift herself -- including a note to her fans at the back, which has internet sleuths spiraling.
In the message Swift wrote for her fans, she detailed how the Eras Tour came about and what it meant to her. She signed it off by writing: "See you next Era," and Swifties think this could mean one of two things: there is going to be an Eras Tour part two, or she will soon be releasing TS12.
Over the years, the pop superstar has preceded her album releases with Easter eggs online and during performances. As such, her every move is often taken to have extra meaning by her dedicated fanbase.
