SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- The Southington Police Department is alerting residents about a scam involving a caller impersonating a police officer.

The impersonator, who refers to himself as "Officer Canty," usually calls from 860-419-0567, but may use different numbers. Complaints from residents say the caller claims they missed a court date.

"Do not provide this individual with any information, and hang up the phone," warned Southington police.
