Last year saw Netflix unleash several hugely popular, and critically acclaimed, action movies, including the gritty crime thriller Rebel Ridge, the brutal and bloody revenge epic The Shadow Strays, and the Christmas action outing Carry-On. And it looks like the streamer is all set to continue that success, with the upcoming action thriller Ad Vitam promising to be the next Taken . That's right, the beloved Liam Neeson movie that kick-started the renowned actor's aged action hero career.
Directed by Rodolphe Lauga, the French action thriller Ad Vitam stars Guillaume Canet as Franck, a man with a mysterious past (spoiler alert, he's a former elite agent) who, after surviving a home invasion, must save his kidnapped wife while facing the deadly consequences of his painful past. The rest of the cast includes Stéphane Caillard, Nassim Lyes, Zita Hanrot, Alexis Manenti, Johan Heldenbergh, Etienne Guillou-Kervern, and Rayan Bouazza. Ad Vitam is all set to land on Netflix on January 10, and you can check out the official synopsis below.

Will 'Ad Vitam' Be the Latest Netflix Action Hit?
It looks like Ad Vitam will have something for everyone as it combines fast-paced action with espionage, mystery, and family drama. Headline star Guillaume Canet, who is best known for the dark comedy romance Love Me If You Dare, the thriller Tell No One, and last year's historical drama The Flood, looks to be a captivating action lead, with Ad Vitam promising the kind of tortured, reluctant hero with a particular set of skills that fans of the genre know and love.

This year promises to give audiences all manner of action movie fare. Several one-man army-style movies are on the horizon, including Jason Statham's A Working Man, which sees the action icon reunite with The Beekeeper director David Ayer; Nobody 2, which finds Bob Odenkirk reprising the role of the mysterious "auditor" Hutch Mansell; Novocaine, which stars The Boys actor Jack Quaid as a man who cannot feel pain...something which will come in handy when his girlfriend is taken hostage; the John Wick-esque Fateh; Love Hurts starring Oscar-winner and Everything Everywhere All at Once actor Ke Huy Quan; and the long-awaited sequel The Accountant 2, which finds Ben Affleck back in action as the account-slash-assassin Christian Wolff.
