'Kraven the Hunter' Trails Behind 'Madame Web' in Flop Box Office Debut
Despite building off beloved Spider-Man IP, J.C. Chandor's Kraven the Hunter had a rather disappointing start at the domestic box office this weekend, earning only $11 million, per AP. Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the film reportedly cost around $110 million to make and currently stands as one of the worst openings for Sony's Spider-Verse roster, trailing behind Madame Web's $15.3 million opening. Moana 2 and Wicked are finding more luck at the box office however, with the former topping the chart for yet another weekend and adding $26.6 million to its domestic total. Moana 2 has so far made a global revenue of $717 million, surpassing Dune: Part Two to become the fourth highest grossing film of the year. Meanwhile, Wicked brought in $22.5 million in its fourth weekend, and has grossed over $500 million worldwide. Elsewhere, Warner Bros.' animated The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim had an even more disappointing start at the box office than Kraven, earning only $4.6 million to its almost $30 million budget.
