BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Blood Assurance is looking for your help in saving as many lives as possible this holiday season.
Monday, Dec. 23, they'll be hosting a blood drive in the Greenwood Mall parking lot in front of JCPenney.
There, they'll be taking any donations of blood that can help give the gift of life to those who need it this Christmas.
While they accept any kind of blood, there are three main areas of need they're mainly asking for:
"O-Negative is the universal blood type. That makes it particularly important in emergency situations when a patient's blood type isn't known. That's something that the emergency departments really like to have on hand. We also need AB-Plasma, which is sort of like o-negative. It's the universal plasma blood type, and then we need platelet donors, and platelets are used oftentimes for cancer patients," media relations coordinator Brooke Katz says.
This blood drive in the JCPenney parking lot at Greenwood Mall is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.
Officials say it takes only 30 to 45 minutes of your time to save a life this holiday, so if you have the time, they'd love for you to come out and donate!
