Houston has 3 major outlet centers. Here's what to know about them.

Whether planning a full day of shopping or a quick stop for a specific item, Houston has several outlet centers that offer name-brand goods that won't break the bank.

Locating on the northwest, west and southeast side of Houston, each center has unique features and eateries to make shopping an experience.

Here's what to know about Houston's three major outlet centers:

HOUSTON RETAIL DEBUT: LA-based celebrity fashion brand makes its Texas debut in River Oaks District

This is a single-level shopping center owned by the Simon Property Group with outdoor courtyard areas and covered walkways.

Michaela Williams, with Dancie Perugini Ware Public Relations, representing Houston Premium Outlets describes it as an upscale experience with over 140 designer and name-brand stores, including Burberry, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, lululemon, Tory Burch, Jimmy Choo and more.

The center has 14 dining options including a Longhorn Steakhouse on the property.

In addition to shopping, the center hosts a variety of community events throughout the year, celebrating major holidays with family-friendly activities, seasonal entertainment and special promotions.

This year, Houston Premium Outlets welcomed Ferragamo, Tommy Bahama, Psycho Bunny, Hey Dude, Simply Southern, Solaris, Shoe Palace, Hollister and Pandora to its lineup of retailers.

According to listings on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Buckle, JD Sports and Shoe Palace locations are planned for the center in 2025.

Katy Mills Mall opened 25 years ago, cementing Katy as a retail and dining destination. A 25th anniversary party for the center took place in October.

The mall, which opened on Oct. 28, 1999, was billed as "shoppertainment" according to an archived version of the mall's website, and it promised to "dramatically change the way that people view a trip to the mall."

Features stores include Under Armour, Bass Pro Shops, H&M, Old Navy, Saks Off 5th, Nike, Victoria's Secret, U.S. Polo Association, Kate Spade, Adidas and others.

The single-level structure is full indoors. Unique features include an attached AMC Theatre and Slick City Action Park. Perhaps the center's most unique features is Dig World where equipment enthusiasts of all ages get to try out mini excavators, operate a skid steer loader and more. Earlier this year, the center was the site of "Jurassic World: The Exhibition" dinosaur experience.

Coffee Fellows is now open in the food court and offers a full menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner. More than 20 other dining options exist as well.

Since fall 2023, Rainforest Cafe at Katy Mills Mall has been undergoing renovations.

According to a spokesperson representing Katy Mills Mall, Rainforest Cafe has remained open during renovations. The project is on-going and could be complete in February.

According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation search, fashion brand Primark is coming in late 2025.

MEMORIAL CITY DEVELOPMENT: Memorial City developers plan to turn Memorial City warehouses into retail and restaurant hub

Tanger Houston is a single-story structure just off Interstate 45 South in Texas City. A Buc-ee's store is nearby the center.

It opened in 2012, as a 350,000-square-foot upscale outlet center located approximately 30 miles south of downtown Houston and 20 miles north of Galveston.

It's a courtyard style center with walkways in between the more than 80 stores including Coach, Crocs, Nike, Old Navy, American Eagle Outfitters, Calvin Klein, Hey Dude, Michael Kors and others.

Cole Haan opened in November.

The center has nine dining options including Char Siu Wok, Charley's Philly Steak, Crepes and Waffles, NYC Gyro, Ricciardi's Italian Ice and Starbucks.
