New Bossier Parish Veterans Parkway dedicated on Veterans Day

BOSSIER CITY, La. - In a tribute to the brave men and women who have served the nation, officials unveiled a new road today named "Veterans Parkway."

The newly dedicated north-south corridor stretches four miles from Interstate 220 to Crouch Road and continues to state Highway 162.

The ceremony was marked by heartfelt reflections, honoring veterans' dedication and sacrifice. The Bossier Parish Police Jury stated the new parkway would alleviate congestion on Airline and Benton Roads, enhancing travel within the community.

This $21 million project, funded by taxpayers, underscores Bossier's commitment to supporting military and veteran families, according to local officials.

"I love it. I'm retired Air Force... I think Bossier is a great place for military and veteran families to live, and Bossier should be proud of what they're doing for our military and community," said Charlton McGinley, state Veterans Affairs secretary and retired Air Force member.

Veterans Parkway is scheduled to open around Thanksgiving, barring any weather-related delays.
