Wild chase ends in North Hollywood standoff after suspect hits cars

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A suspect sideswiped cars during a dangerous chase in the San Fernando Valley, but he was stopped when his car was struck by another driver at an intersection.

AIR7 was over the pursuit around 3:15 p.m. as the suspect weaved in and out of traffic on surface streets in the Sun Valley area.

Once the pursuit entered North Hollywood, the suspect ran a red light and his car's rear bumper was struck by another driver passing through an intersection.

The collision caused airbags to be deployed on the suspect's car and the chase soon came to an end.

A standoff is now underway between the suspect and Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies near Vineland Avenue and Hortense Street.
