Who is James Kennedy? Vanderpump star arrested on domestic violence charge

Vanderpump Rules has seen plenty of drama, but now star James Kennedy has been arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence.

The Burbank Police Department told Newsweek Kennedy was arrested on Tuesday, December 10. The California police responded to a call about an argument between Kennedy, whose formal last name is Georgiou, and a woman.

"The investigation determined it was a domestic incident, leading to Mr. Georgiou's arrest," the Burbank Police Department told Newsweek. "Mr. Georgiou was booked for misdemeanor domestic violence and later posted bail. Formal charges are pending review by the Burbank City Attorney's office."

Newsweek reached out to Burbank City Attorney Joseph McDougall's office through his website. Newsweek also emailed Kennedy's agent Paul Desisto for comment.

The Burbank Police Department's daily arrest logs had not been released for December 10 at the time of writing.

Witnesses saw Kennedy grab the woman at one point, but officers did not see any visible injuries, as reported by TMZ.

TMZ noted that Kennedy's girlfriend, Ally Lewber, appeared to have been at Paris Hilton's mother, Kathy Hilton's, holiday party the night of Kennedy's arrest. It is not clear if Lewber is the woman involved in the incident.

Kennedy, who is originally from London, was born to model and actress Jacqueline Georgiou and music producer George Michael. His parents briefly appeared on Vanderpump Rules.

When Kennedy was 14, he moved to Ibiza with his family for two years before coming to the United States, he told Heavy in 2014.

He bought a house in Los Angeles, where he lives with his girlfriend, Alley Lewber.

"It's a three-bedroom, like, little gray home," he said on Part 2 of Vanderpump Rules: Pumped Up Edition, a Peacock-exclusive version of the Vanderpump Rules Season 10 reunion. "It's got a pool in the back. It's got a dream studio."

Kennedy has appeared on 10 seasons of Vanderpump Rules, where he's known for his unpredictable behavior. He first appeared in the second season as the boyfriend of cast member Kristen Doute.

Beyond his reality television life, Kennedy is also a DJ.

Kennedy brought his girlfriend Ally Lewber to the Vanderpump Rules cast in season 10. The Bravo show follows the lives of the people who work at the restaurant owned by former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump.

The two have been dating since January 2022, linking just weeks after Kennedy broke up with his former fiancée Rachel Leviss.

The couple met at a concert for Vanderpump Rules co-star Tom Sandoval's cover band, The Most Extras, as Kennedy revealed on his other co-star Kent's podcast Give Them Lala.

At the time of his podcast interview, Kennedy said that Lewber was not "big on Instagram," and had a private account, and cast doubt over her appearing on Vanderpump Rules in the future. She has since made her account public and joined the cast of the reality show.

Lewber has previous experience in reality television as, when she was just 18 years old, she starred in a Dayton, Ohio, reality TV show called The Valley, which followed six high school graduates as they prepared to go off to college.

Now, Lewber runs a website where she offers astrology services, including birth chart readings.

According to her LinkedIn page, Lewber, 28, is a Belmont University graduate with a degree in entertainment industry studies.

Lewber addressed rumors earlier this year that Kennedy was physically abusive throughout their relationship. In February, fellow Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay said on her podcast that Teddi Mellencamp told her that Kennedy and Lewber had "an altercation" in a car Mellencamp had shared with them.

"She said that they were heading to an afterparty at TomTom. And during that car ride there was an altercation between two people in the car, which made her and Teddi have to get out of the car," Shay said. "They had to separate the two individuals in the car. And [they] further suggested that James was involved, and now there's rumors flying around that Teddi might have hinted at an altercation between you and James."

Lewber denied the allegations, saying Kennedy never "physically hurt her." She did say Kennedy was "drunk in the back of that car" in the story Mellencamp told.

"Yes, we were in the car together. I thought we were having fun," Lewber said. "We were having fun. But then James and I did get into an argument, but there was no physical assault. I was not bleeding, and they didn't have to get out of the car and separate us. So that didn't happen. That's all I'll say on that."
