Dirk Nowitzki is one step closer to launching his broadcasting career.
The Dallas Mavericks legend is nearing a deal to join Amazon Prime's video coverage of the NBA starting next season, according to a report from NBA insider Marc Stein.
It's a shift in Nowitzki's post-basketball career, which since his retirement in 2019 has been spent prioritizing philanthropy with the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation. Nowitzki is expected to bring his 20 years of NBA experience to offer perspective in the media space, which has been a successful career path for several notable Hall of Famers.
Nowitzki made an appearance on TNT's Inside the NBA during Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves, joining Ernie Smith, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley.

Amazon will distribute 66 NBA regular season games on Prime Video each season, including Thursday night doubleheaders beginning in January 2026, Friday evening doubleheaders, select Saturday afternoon games, at least one game on Black Friday and the knockout rounds of the Emirates NBA Cup.
