The Notre-Dame cathedral re-opens on Dec. 7, five years after a devastating fire, with a ceremony in which the state hands the building over to the Catholic Church, the archbishop opens the door, and a liturgical celebration is held with singing and a blessing.

1:20-1:40 p.m. ET: French President Emmanuel Macron gives a speech, followed by the national anthem.
1:40 p.m. ET: Notre Dame's door is re-opened, and guests including heads of state, priests of Paris churches, and parishioners, enter.
2:15 p.m. ET: Liturgical service -- re-awakening of organ, singing of Magnificat and Te Deum, consecration of altar, saints' relics placed on altar, blessing, and lighting of candles.
3 p.m. ET: Liturgical service ends.
