CAPITAL REGION, NY (WRGB) -- A mental health conference held Sunday by NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Our station and our meteorologist Alyssa Caroprese won an award for our Breaking the Silence series here on CBS6.

Alyssa's Breaking the Silence series took a closer look at the mental health crisis facing many young kids and adults.

Among the guests at the award ceremony, former New York Met and New York Yankee Dwight 'Doc' Gooden.

Gooden spoke with CBS6 about his own experiences with addiction and mental health struggles.
