NEW YORK -- An off-duty New York City police officer was arrested early Saturday morning in Staten Island and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to police.
Jose A. Dejesus, 27, was taken into custody at 7:14 a.m. within the 122nd Precinct. Authorities confirmed he faces multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired, and refusing to take a breath test.
The arrest occurred while Dejesus was off duty, though further details about the circumstances leading to the incident were not immediately released.
The NYPD has not issued a statement regarding the arrest, and it remains unclear if Dejesus has retained legal representation.
This arrest marks the latest in a series of incidents involving off-duty officers, underscoring ongoing concerns about accountability within the department. Three New York City police officers have been arrested for DWI since Friday.
