A driver has been charged with attempted murder in a road-rage shooting Halloween night on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Brandon Rudd, 34, of South Mills, North Carolina, fired on an SUV as both vehicles traveled south on the Turnpike between exits 5 and 6 just before midnight, State Police said Thursday.
Rudd's shots hit the other vehicle in Mansfield, Burlington County, but did not injure the driver.
A little more than week later, State Police identified Rudd's car and learned it was registered in North Carolina.
They obtained help from the local sheriff's office and executed search warrants on Rudd's home and vehicles.
During the search, investigators found the gun Rudd used in the shooting as well as ballistics evidence that matched to the altercation on the Turnpike, officials said.
Rudd is also charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses. He is being held in the Albemarle District Jail in North Carolina, pending extradition to Burlington County. Attorney information wasn't immediately available.
