NEWAYGO COUNTY, MI - A man died at the scene of a house fire early Sunday morning after first responders pulled him from the burning structure.

The cause of the blaze in Beaver Township is under investigation, according to the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies and firefighters responded to a 4:25 a.m. report of a house fire Sunday, Dec. 8, in the 9000 block of West 7 Mile Road.

First responders arrived at the scene and pulled a 69-year-old man out of the house. Life-saving measures were performed but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His identity was not immediately released.

A 69-year-old woman was able to get out of the residence without injuries.
