A woman riding a bike died Sunday night in a crash on Highway 242 in the East Bay, authorities said.
The crash occurred north of Olivera Road in Concord around 8:50 p.m. when the driver of a GMC Yukon headed south struck the bicyclist, the California Highway Patrol said.
The bicyclist, a woman in her 30s, died at the scene, the CHP said. Her name was not immediately released.
The driver, whose age was unavailable, cooperated with investigators and was not intoxicated, the CHP said. The driver told investigators he did not see the bicyclist before the crash, CHP officer Dan Gilmore said.
The crash remained under investigation.
The CHP asked anyone with information to contact 925-646-4980 or [email protected].
