Ole Miss' Lane Kiffin Sends Blunt Message to College Football Playoff Committee

The playoff selection committee has its work cut out trying to determine the first-ever 12-team field for the College Football Playoffs.

The bulk of the work will be done when conference champions are determined after Saturday's slate of games, but there's some bubble teams the committee will have to make some tough decisions about.

Three of those fringe teams the CFP committee is likely considering is No. 13 Alabama, No. 14 Ole Miss and No. 15 South Carolina - all of whom will be watching this week's SEC championship game between No. 3 Texas and No. 7 Georgia with a vested interest.

Should Georgia win, both the Bulldogs and Longhorns could sneak into the CFP. If Texas wins, a three-loss Georgia team might have a hard time leapfrogging some of the other bubble teams.

While there's a lot for the committee to consider - strength of schedule, common opponents, wins over ranked teams - Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin decided he would help them out.

The fifth-year Rebels coach tweeted at the CFP committee on Sunday with a list of reasons why Ole Miss should make it into the 12-team field over Alabama and South Carolina.

Kiffin's list covered a number of items working in the Rebels' favor.

South Carolina lost to both Ole Miss and Alabama, and between the latter two, the Rebels have a better margin of victory (296 points to 252) and lower margin of defeat (13 points to 33) than the Crimson Tide.

In terms of common opponents, both teams beat Georgia -Ole Miss won by 18 points while Alabama won by seven - and South Carolina - Ole Miss won by 24 points, Alabama by two.

Against LSU, Alabama beat the Tigers by 29 points while the Rebels lost by three points in overtime. Against Oklahoma, Ole Miss won by 12 points while Alabama lost by 21 points.

Kiffin's points lay out a pretty solid argument for the Rebels to make it into the CFP field, but if the committee is picking between the two, most feel Alabama would be the clear choice.
