The Chicago Blackhawks are one of the worst teams in the NHL right now. They are a bit worse than some expected but being a non-playoff team isn't very surprising at all.
They are going to be sellers at the trade deadline which means they certainly won't be bringing anyone in to try and help them win right now.
Even though their former captain Jonathan Toews is contemplating a comeback, the Hawks will not be the team that signs him.
On Thursday night, a new report suggested that a few teams are already interested in Toews now that it is common knowledge that he may want to return.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, he has resumed skating and feels the best he has in years. In addition to telling everyone that teams are interested, Seravalli also confirmed that Toews is back to his playing weight.
It is unclear if Toews plans to return this year or wait until the summer to join a team for next year. If he wants to play this year, he must be on a team roster by the trade deadline otherwise he becomes ineligible for the rest of the season.
Seravalli named the Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, and the Colorado Avalanche as potential fits for Toews which means that he has heard there is interest on the side of the teams.
Off-ice health issues have kept Toews away from hockey since April of 2023 but he was still a good player when he left. At 36 years old, he could still have some great play left in the tank.
