Beloved dog returns to Jackson shelter after owner's death leaves her homeless

JACKSON, N.J. -- After spending seven years with a loving family, a 10-year-old dog named Kali has found herself back at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility following the death of her owner.

Kali, described as easy to handle, well-mannered on a leash, and fond of her toys, is now seeking a new forever home where she can spend her golden years. Despite the change in circumstances, she remains non-destructive, squeaky clean, and ready to bond with a family.

Having passed all behavioral assessments, Kali shows no signs of resource guarding. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped for identification. Although she is not reactive to other dogs, Kali prefers to be the only pet, which shelter staff believe will allow her to receive the attention she deserves.

Kali is available for immediate adoption at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, located at 615 Freemont Ave. in Jackson. The shelter is open daily from 1 to 4 p.m., offering opportunities for potential adopters to meet her.

Kali's return to the shelter highlights the need for homes for senior pets, who often face longer waits for adoption despite their loving and gentle nature.
