Chase is forced back into action and must go on the run when FBI Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Harold Harper (John Lithgow) is brought in to hunt down and apprehend the rogue fugitive, with the two sharing a complicated history that dates back to their time spent together during the Soviet-Afghan War. Jeff Bridges is in fine form as the seasoned former CIA operative, with the beloved actor notably having to halt production when he was diagnosed with lymphoma and sought cancer treatment in October 2020. He came back better than ever in February 2022 after his cancer went into remission, delivering a knockout portrayal.
