Lane Kiffin resorts to Nick Saban's playful 'talking sh*t' comment in tirade on Curt Cignetti, Indiana

Lane Kiffin is exasperated with the College Football Playoff Selection Committee's decision to snub Ole Miss, and he is trying to stick it to them.

Indiana, 11-1, failed in pulling an upset over Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff game, losing big to the Fighting Irish in a 27-17 blowout that was not as close as the final score indicated.

It was another perfect moment for Kiffin to press the selection committee until it hurt. So the Rebels head coach sought to agree to a playful comment made by Nick Saban on Cignetti "talking all the sh*t."

"While I appreciate it, one thing you didn't learn from me is talking all the sh*t you talk," Saban said with a straight face, making a playful dig on the Hoosiers head coach on ESPN's College GameDay.

Although it seemed like a playful dig from Saban to Cignetti, Kiffin wholeheartedly agreed with Saban's comments.

"This is awesome GOAT. I agree with you Coach Saban," Kiffin tweeted.

For the record, Kiffin has a reputation for making playful comments all the time on X. This one might arguably be another one of his playful comments, but Kiffin's following actions debate against it.

Shortly after Kiffin tweeted this, he tweeted something even more sensational, an unapologetic dig at the College Football Committee for choosing the Hoosiers over his Rebels.

"Really exciting competitive game @CFBPlayoff . Great job!!," which was, as Sports Illustrated called it, "a veiled message that his Rebels (or another SEC team) would have been a better fit in the playoff than the defeated Hoosiers."

Cignetti's answer to ESPN analyst Pat McAfee's question about his lessons from the former Alabama head coach Saban during his brief stint at Tuscaloosa from 2007 to 2010 set Saban off.

"Things I learned from Coach Saban, things I learned at Alabama and then put into my thoughts and words. I would say that it is similar," Cignetti said on College Game Day, eliciting his former mentor's response.

"Maybe some of our methods are a little different, but I would say the overall program philosophy in terms of being process-centered, high standards expectations, never lower your standards, hold people accountable, consistency in performance, and how you do everything: the same,"

Additionally, Kiffin's tenure at Tuscaloosa never overlapped with Cignetti since Cignetti concluded his WR coach career in Tuscaloosa back in 2010, while Kiffin joined Alabama as offensive coordinator and QB coach in 2014.
