Travis Hunter's name is forever etched into college football's most cherished brotherhood.
The Colorado football star two-way player was named the 2024 recipient of the Heisman Trophy on Saturday in New York City. He beat out Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty and Oregon and Miami quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Cam Ward, respectively, for college football's most prestigious individual award.
Hunter received a total of 2,231 votes from Heisman Trophy voters, including 522 first-place votes. He joins Rashaan Salaam as the only two Colorado players to win the Heisman in program history.

Saturday's accomplishment brought the emotions out in Hunter immediately after the announcement that he had been named the 85th recipient of the Heisman Trophy. He went over to hug his fiancée, mother, Colorado coach Deion Sanders and Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
"First I want to say thank God, man. I never thought I would be in this position. It's crazy. Your belief take you a long way. It's actually crazy, man. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you," Hunter said in his acceptance speech Saturday inside New York City's Lincoln Center.
"I want to thank my fiancée and my mother. They've been with me since first time I had surgery my first year of college. They never took a step away from me. All the hard hours, all the hard days. ... Y'all stay with me. I'm very thankful for y'all. I'm thankful. I'm thankful. I'm thankful. Thankful for my mother. She took me out Florida, bad area. I'm always getting in trouble to now look where I'm at. It's crazy. Thank you. I want to thank Coach Prime, Shedeur, y'all changed my life forever..."
Hunter had his name appear on 93.32% of the ballots among Heisman voters, the fourth highest all time, according to ESPN's broadcast. He beat out the other three finalists by 214 points -- marking the smallest margin of victory for the Heisman Trophy since 2009.
He is the first defensive player to win the Heisman Trophy in 27 years, with Michigan's Charles Woodson being the last to do so in 1997.
Hunter will play in his final game as a member of the Buffaloes on Saturday, Dec. 28 when Colorado takes on BYU in the Alamo Bowl at 5:30 p.m. MT.
