Jamie Foxx Is 'Recovering' After a Glass Hit Him and Required Stitches

Jamie Foxx is recuperating after being injured at his birthday party on Friday, December 13.

"Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth," Foxx's spokesperson told Us Weekly in a statement on Saturday, December 14. "He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement's hands."

Foxx celebrated his 57th birthday at Mr. Chow in Los Angeles. The Beverly Hills Police Department was called to the scene several hours later, responding to a call regarding a reported possible assault with a deadly weapon. According to a BHPD press release, it was ultimately confirmed that the alleged assault was "unfounded."

"The incident involved a physical altercation between parties," the press release read. "The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests were made. The Beverly Hills Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community and will continue to investigate this matter."

Foxx, for his part, has not further addressed the incident.

The actor recently recovered from a health scare last year. In April 2023, Foxx had been hospitalized after an apparent medical complication. In a Netflix special released earlier this month, Foxx revealed he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

"I want you to see me laughing, having a good time partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn't want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through," he said in his What Happened Was stand-up special. "I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way and y'all know they kept it airtight, they didn't let nothing out, they protected me, and that's what I hope that everyone could have in moments like these."

Foxx further noted that "we still don't know what happened to me," noting he remembered experiencing a bad headache before his memory went blank.

"I don't remember 20 days. What they told me was that they took me to the first doctor and that first doctor gave me a cortisone shot and sent me home," Foxx added. "What the f -- is that? I don't know if you can do Yelps for doctors, but that's half a star."
