MORGANTOWN, Ky. - A Morgantown nonprofit opened up its doors to share a meal on Christmas Eve.
From 1 to 3 p.m., Morgantown Mission provided a home-cooked meal for anyone who decided to come in today.
Volunteers served food while community members gathered together to enjoy the season.
News 40 spoke to the assistant director of Morgantown Mission, Monique Withrow, who said they just wanted to do something for those who might have missed their last food delivery event or didn't have somewhere to go for Christmas.
Withrow says, "Most of the food was initially provided by our employees and our volunteers. And then as word got out and we started talking about it and people in the community started hearing about it, we got a lot of support. There was there are a lot of people here that have brought items and donate or donated the things to make the items."
Morgantown Mission makes it their goal to help out wherever they can, whether it be utilities, food or education, and with this being their inaugural Christmas Eve dinner, this was just another way they thought of trying to help everyone they can in Butler County.
