Could a big name in fast-food chicken be opening a new location in this part of Orange County, New York?
If you are a fan of the legendary KFC and "Colonel Sanders" special recipe of "11 herbs and spices" and live in the City of Port Jervis, New York it appears that the rumor is spinning and it might mean good news for you.
If you live in or around the City of Port Jervis in Orange County and have a craving for KFC, you are well aware that you need to drive a bit to find it with the closest location in New York being in Middletown, NY. ( I think...LOL)! That wasn't always the case, and now, it appears that it might not be that way for long.
According to a few friends in the Port Jervis area, the site of a former Dunkin' Donuts will soon be transformed into the city's newest fast-food restaurant. The former Dunkin' (which moved across the street) located at 290 East Main Street in Port Jervis is expected to become a KFC soon to the delight of many in the area. As you can see in the picture below it appears that construction at the site has begun, leaving many in the area excited.
We have attempted to contact KFC to confirm the new restaurant but haven't had much luck but residents have confirmed that is what city officials are saying will replace the former Dunkin'. This isn't the first rumored return of KFC in Port Jervis as in 2022 it was rumored that a KFC would be opening in the Walmart plaza but that didn't happen.
If the above site does open as a KFC it will be the long-awaited return of the "Colonel's" popular chicken to the area. You might remember that a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) was located at the current Ben's Fresh at 33 East Main Street for many years.
When we can confirm the restaurant's expected opening date we will update this article.
